No Place for Misogyny or Inequality

01/16/2018

Misogyny is at epidemic levels in our society, a social disease and major problem infesting the White House and far too many American homes and relationships. A woman is beaten every 9 seconds, on average, in the US; and every minute 20 people are victims of intimate partner violence in our country. Current legislation, like the Violence Against Women Act, is inadequate and desperately needs to be strengthened. The roots of misogyny and patriarchy need to be more forcefully addressed. So do the persistent problems of gender inequality and sexual harassment. Women and men are inherently equal and meant, like yin and yang, to live in harmony. It is high time that we are treated as such at every level of society and drive all vestiges of patriarchy along with male supremacy to the junk heap of history.
